B-5 Life Preserver

Nice example of a B-5 Life Preserver issued to a “Polito” and dated in the Korean War. The B-5 was used by aviators and flight deck crew. This retains the pull tabs on both sides as well as the inflator hoses on both sides. It is in excellent condition with one small hole on a tab in the middle of the life preserver and not easily seen (not in the parts that hold air). Historical service registers from the Korean War window reveal a Vincent A Polito who served on board the USS Valley Forge during 1952-53 cruise. He was transferred from the USS Wasp. He was probably part of the ship’s engineering section as a draftsman. He worked as such for a number of Defense contractors. His obituary photo attached.
