VF-143 Pukin Dogs APH-6 Pilot Helmet
This shirt features an APH-6 taped as VF-143 from the late 1970s.
During the 1970s, VF-143 “Pukin’ Dogs” entered a new era of Naval Aviation when the squadron transitioned from the F-4 Phantom II to the F-14A Tomcat. VF-143 received the Tomcat in 1974 and soon took the new fighter to sea aboard USS America. With its distinctive winged-dog insignia and colorful squadron markings, VF-143 became one of the early operational F-14 squadrons and helped establish the Tomcat as the U.S. Navy’s premier fleet-defense fighter.
